A compact silicon-on-insulator mode demultiplexer that routes TE₀ and TE₁ to separate output ports.
Designed and analytically simulated a compact silicon-on-insulator mode demultiplexer for broadband mode-division-multiplexed photonic interconnects.
Routed TE₀ and TE₁ modes to separate output ports.
Implemented the complete analytical modelling chain in Python and NumPy.
Applied Effective Medium Theory to the sub-wavelength grating for phase/index engineering.
Used the Effective Index Method with a bisection dispersion solver to obtain propagation constants.
Modelled MMI self-imaging and reconstructed the full 2D field distribution across the operating bandwidth.
Validated analytical results against Lumerical FDTD.
Reported a 36 μm device footprint on SOI 220 nm and a 300 nm bandwidth spanning 1.40–1.70 μm.
Simulation scripts available upon request.
